Last week Kane and I stayed at Como Maalifushi, a luxury resort in the Maldives. It was both our first time ever in the Maldives and all we knew about the islands was the heavenly photos we’d seen depicting crystal clear turquoise waters and perfectly white sand.

Arriving there was just breathtaking. Even flying over to the island, we were looking out of the Seaplane window and could see hundreds of little islands decorating the ocean below.

They were such an incredibly bright turquoise colour – I’d never seen anything like that before in my life.

We arrived at Maalifushi on a speedboat and it is honestly the most pristine paradise. It’s crazy when you go to a place and it actually looks as perfect as it looks in the photos. It’s hard to put into words!

The island resort is located in the Maldives’ southerly Thaa Atoll and has a mix between garden, beach, and over water villas. We stayed in a beach villa that was extremely spacious and had direct access to the beach, it’s own private pool and an outdoor bathroom. Everything I love about tropical living!!

The decor was a stunning modern interpretation of indigenous styling and everything was pristine. I mean, nothing was out of place, even the sand paths were clean and soft! It made for a very calming and peaceful environment.

One thing that I was over the moon with was the cuisine. I often find it really hard when we travel to find clean and healthy meal options. And after a few plane meals all I crave is some fresh, raw clean food. And amazingly, Como have what they call their Shambhala menu. it is a unique nutritional concept that incorporates organic ingredients rich in living enzymes, vitamins and sea minerals while still delivering on flavour. Food is raw, steamed or grilled for maximum health benefits. Not only was it super healthy, but the chefs are magicians because it was also incredibly delicious. Our favourite dessert was a raw banana cheesecake which was entirely vegan and raw.. we had it twice in a row!

I’m a huge fan on the Shambhala experience which is the embodiment of a philosophy for healthy living that Como incorporates into their retreats. The combination of the healthy food, daily yoga, massages and facial therapies set in the most beautiful tropical paradise really makes you feel amazing inside and out. You can’t help but glow!
